... Who is Ireland Outreach?

Established in 1972 by James and Jean Gillett, Ireland Outreach Int’l is a fellowship of missionaries working together with the goal of spreading the Gospel to the people throughout Ireland, Great Britain, and the rest of the world.  The headquarters are in Dalkey (just south of Dublin) in a renovated 18th century mansion called Charleville.

 

 ... Who are the Irish?

Ireland is a very religious country.  Approximately 90% of the population are Roman Catholics.  They have lived by a set of man-made rules,  hoping they can be good enough to get to heaven.  However, today, many are disillusioned with religion and are turning to secular humanism.  Ireland is a very young country as well, with half the population of nearly 4 million being under the age of 25.  These people are faced with the same issues and problems that affect young people around the world.  The spiritual need is overwhelming in the Emerald Isle.

 

 ...What are the opportunities for service?

The Summer Team has many facets of ministry in which to participate for those ages 18 to 90!  The team will be engaged in door-to-door visitation, open air meetings, and tract distribution.  We will also need workers behind the scenes: cooks, maintenance workers, and office and practical workers.  The type and amount of work depends on YOU!  The more volunteers that come to Ireland, the more outreach we can accomplish in 2004.

 ...When can I come?

The dates for the Summer Team 2004 are from 5 June to 9 August 2004.  Even if you cannot commit to this entire period, you can still come and serve for a week, a month, or as long as you are able.  You can also come any time during the year as a short-term worker.
